Whenever we go for RTGS, it usually gets credited to other account within few minutes. But sometimes due to error, it fails. In many cases, fund gets debited and the receiver does not receives it. Note:
Timings for RTGS: Monday-Saturday (except 2nd and 4th Saturday) 7:00 AM-6:00 PM
The minimum amount to be remit through RTGS is Rs 2 lakh. The maximum limit is Rs 10 lac per day.
Transactions will execute on the next working day if they are schedule for Sundays, National Holidays , RTGS Holidays (as declared by RBI)
In case of urgent fund transfer to other bank accounts, please use IMPS facility.
“Can an RTGS transaction be tracked? Would the remitting customer receive an acknowledgement of money credited to the beneficiary`s account?
While the customers do not have the facility to track the transaction, the RBI has implemented the feature of positive confirmation in an RTGS transaction. Under this, the remitting bank would receive a message from RBI (through the beneficiary bank) that the money has been credited to the beneficiary bank / customer account. Based on this, the remitting bank should advise the remitting customer that money has been credited to the receiving bank’s beneficiary account”
How to Check RTGS Transactions Status Online 2024?
Method 1: Through Internet Banking
Below is an example which is of IndusInd Bank
So, follow below steps:
- First of all visit IndusInd bank link page. Click Here
- Enter account number, PO number or UTR number, transaction date and click on “Submit“
- Finally, you can see the status.
Method 2: Calling Customer Care
After completing transaction, please wait for at least 1 hour. After that you can contact customer care executive of that bank and ask about it. Executive will require UTR number for checking the status.
Method 3: By SMS
Note: Don’t forget to give mobile number and email id during RTGS transactions for getting updates. (If email option is there, mention email)
When the beneficiary account gets credit, you get an instant alert through an SMS, that the beneficiary account has been credited.
Method 4: Through Email
If you have given email id during transactions then many banks inform you about the transaction through email also. You can instantly check mail and confirm your RTGS status.
Method 5: Visiting Branch
You can also get the status contacting the bank. Visit your branch with UTR number and get status of it. RTGS transactions take maximum of 30 minutes.
Note: Contact at least after 1 hours.
How to Track Other Banks RTGS Fund Transfer?
It depends upon bank to bank. Some banks with internet banking facility provide this service.
When should you check RTGS transaction status?
RTGS transaction normally gets complete before 30 minutes. It does not get credit to other account if account number given is wrong.
What happens when the RTGS fund is not credit?
Even if amount is not credit after 30 minutes due to some issues, bank return the amount to remitter within 1 hour. So, you don’t need to worry if amount does not get credit to other accounts, it gets refund automatically. It don’t charge anything.
If RTGS amount is not credit to other account, email with UTR number.

Can a remitting customer initiate a transaction for a future date?
No, the RTGS system does not accept future value dated transactions. It is real time payment system.
